Why some men finish sooner
Ejaculation is a reflex. For some men it is simply set to trigger early; for others, anxiety, a new partner or long gaps between sex speed it up. Most of the time it is a mix, and almost all of it can be trained.
Performance anxiety
Worry speeds up the ejaculation reflex. The more you think about lasting, the harder it gets.
Sensitivity and reflex
Some men are naturally more sensitive. Training helps you notice the point of no return earlier.
Weak pelvic floor
These muscles control ejaculation. Like any muscle, they get stronger with practice.
Linked conditions
Erection worries, thyroid problems and prostate inflammation can all play a part. Your doctor checks for these.
Techniques doctors recommend
Try these on your own first. Most men see a difference within a few weeks of practice.
The start-stop method
During masturbation or sex, stop all stimulation when you feel close. Wait 30 seconds until the urge fades, then start again. Repeat 3 times before finishing.
The squeeze technique
When you are close, firmly squeeze just below the head of the penis for 10 to 20 seconds until the urge passes. Then continue.
Slow, deep breathing
Fast, shallow breathing speeds up the reflex. Breathe in for 4 seconds and out for 6 to stay below the edge.
Change the rhythm, not just the speed
Switch to slower, deeper movement or change position when you feel close, instead of stopping completely.
Train your pelvic floor
The trainer below guides you through it. Three short sets a day is enough.
